Major nearby private schools: Bishop O'Dowd High School 5 minutes south in Oakland (the Catholic high school), The College Preparatory School in Oakland (the elite private high school, often "Cal Prep"), Head-Royce School, and Park Day School. Higher education: UC Berkeley 10 minutes north, Mills College 10 minutes east in Oakland.
