About Saratoga. Saratoga (population ~31,000, incorporated 1956) is a quiet, tree-canopied city wedged between Los Gatos and Cupertino at the western edge of Silicon Valley. Forbes has repeatedly ranked Saratoga among America's wealthiest small towns, and the Saratoga 95070 ZIP regularly appears in top-100 richest-ZIP lists. The city is named after Saratoga Springs, New York — early settlers thought its natural springs reminded them of home. It has no fast-food chains, no big-box retail, and a strict downtown preservation code that keeps Big Basin Way looking much like it did a century ago.

Schools. Saratoga is best known for its schools. Saratoga High School is consistently ranked among the top 20 public high schools in California by U.S. News & World Report — a California Distinguished School with one of the strongest STEM and academic profiles in the state. Redwood Middle School and the K-5 schools of the Saratoga Union School District feed into it. Private options are unusually strong: Sacred Heart School Saratoga (K-8, Catholic), Saint Andrew's Episcopal School (K-8), Challenger School, and the innovative Bullis Charter School nearby. West Valley College (community, 143-acre campus on Fruitvale Avenue) is a highly-ranked transfer institution.

Hospitals. Good Samaritan Hospital (San Jose, 5-8 minutes) is Saratoga's nearest full-service hospital — strong cardiac, neuroscience, and maternity care. El Camino Hospital Los Gatos is 8-10 minutes east. Stanford Hospital is 25 minutes north via 85 — Level I trauma, top-10 U.S. News. Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara is 15 minutes north. Parks and nature. Hakone Gardens (18 acres, Japanese-style), Wildwood Park (the creekside downtown park with the Village Creek footbridge), Sanborn County Park (3,600 acres of redwoods and coast live oaks in the hills), Saratoga Springs (historic resort in the hills with trails and creek), Fremont Older Open Space Preserve (739 acres of oak savanna and hillside trails), and the Saratoga to Sea Trail corridor. Local dispatcher tip. Mountain Winery concert nights (summer series, June-September) fill Pierce Road and the winding road up to the venue — post-show traffic on Pierce can be stopped for 45 minutes. We pre-stage below the venue and drive clients out on the back route through Monte Sereno. Big Basin Way downtown during the Saratoga Blossom Festival, Saratoga Classic Car Show, and the holiday lighting events gets packed — we use Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road instead during those weekends.
