Schools. Los Altos Hills has no schools of its own — all elementary students feed into the top-rated Los Altos School District (or, for some southern streets, the Palo Alto Unified School District). Foothill College (in Los Altos Hills itself) is one of the top transfer colleges in California for students heading to UC, CSU, or Stanford. Private options include Pinewood School (nearby in Los Altos) and Harker School (10 minutes south).

Hospitals. Stanford Hospital is 10-15 minutes north via 280 — Level I trauma, top-10 U.S. News, academic medical center, and the go-to hospital for specialty care from Los Altos Hills. El Camino Hospital (Mountain View) is 10 minutes east. Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara is 15 minutes south. We run regular medical-transport accounts to all three.

Parks and nature. Los Altos Hills is surrounded by some of the Peninsula's best open space. Byrne Preserve (37 acres of grassland and oak savanna, walking trails), Hidden Villa (165 acres of preserved farmland and wilderness), Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve (3,988 acres, adjacent — one of the Peninsula's most popular trail systems with Deer Hollow Farm), Windy Hill Open Space and Coal Creek Open Space in Portola Valley (10 minutes), and the Page Mill Road corridor into Skyline Boulevard.

Airport drive times from Los Altos Hills. SFO: 25-35 minutes (28 miles, via 280 north). SJC: 12-20 minutes (12 miles, via 85 or 280 south). OAK: 40-55 minutes (33 miles, via Dumbarton or San Mateo Bridge). Palo Alto Airport (PAO) is 12 minutes; San Carlos Airport (SQL) is 20 minutes.

Local dispatcher tip. The narrow, unlit, winding roads throughout Los Altos Hills — Moody, Altamont, Fremont, Page Mill above 280, Mora, Taaffe — are no-go for standard limousine companies at night and are legitimately slower than Google Maps says they are. We pad 12-15 minutes on pre-dawn SFO runs out of Los Altos Hills. Also: Foothill College graduation and Commencement weekends fill El Monte to 280 — we stage in the Foothill Lot H overflow and route via Arastradero during those events.
