About Santa Clara. Santa Clara (population ~128,000, incorporated 1852) is the heart of Silicon Valley — home to more tech-company headquarters per square mile than almost any other U.S. city. Its roots go deeper than the chip industry, though: the 1777 Mission Santa Clara de Asís was the 8th of 21 California missions and still stands today at the center of Santa Clara University, founded in 1851 as the first college in California. Public high schools include Santa Clara High School and the nationally-ranked Adrian Wilcox High School. Middle schools include Kennedy Middle. The Santa Clara Unified School District covers K-12 for most of the city. Private options include Bellarmine College Preparatory (adjacent in San Jose, all-boys, Jesuit) and Notre Dame Belmont connections.

Hospitals. Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara (Homestead Road) is one of Kaiser's flagship Northern California hospitals — a full medical campus with the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Santa Clara Medical Offices, and the Garfield Specialty Center. O'Connor Hospital (Dignity Health, just over the San Jose line) is 5 minutes east. Stanford Hospital is 25 minutes north via 101 or 280. El Camino Hospital Mountain View is 15 minutes north. Parks and nature. Airport drive times from Santa Clara. SJC: 5-10 minutes (4 miles — the closest of any Bay Area city we serve). SFO: 35-45 minutes (38 miles, via 101 or 280 north). OAK: 45-60 minutes (40 miles, via Dumbarton or San Mateo Bridge). Santa Clara is essentially adjacent to SJC — most of our pickups get there in under 15 minutes.

Local dispatcher tip. Levi's Stadium event traffic is a serious factor — on 49ers game days and concert nights, Great America Parkway, Tasman Drive, and Lafayette Street become parking lots for 3-4 hours pre- and post-event. For airport pickups on those days we route through the De La Cruz / Lawrence interchange and avoid Great America Parkway entirely.
