About Kentfield. Kentfield (population ~6,500) is an unincorporated community in the heart of Marin County's Ross Valley, nestled between Greenbrae, Ross, San Anselmo, and Larkspur. The community is named after the Kent family, whose 19th-century ranch covered much of this part of the valley — the same family that donated the land that became Muir Woods National Monument. Kentfield is known for the wealthy, wooded Kent Woodlands hillside neighborhood, College of Marin's main campus, and MarinHealth Medical Center — the nerve center of Marin County healthcare.

Landmarks our drivers know. MarinHealth Medical Center (the county's flagship hospital, on Bon Air Road) — the single biggest landmark and the destination of a huge share of our Kentfield-area pickups. College of Marin (COM) Kentfield campus (the 55-acre community college campus — one of California's highest-transfer-rate community colleges). Schools. The Kentfield School District K-8 (Bacich Elementary + Kent Middle School) is consistently one of the highest-performing public K-8 districts in California. High-schoolers feed into the Tamalpais Union High School District — primarily Redwood High School (Larkspur) and Tamalpais High School (Mill Valley), both ranked among California's top public high schools. Private options include the highly-regarded Marin Academy (San Rafael, 9-12), Branson School (neighboring Ross, 9-12 — one of the most selective independent high schools in the Bay Area), Marin Country Day School (Corte Madera, K-8), and San Domenico School (San Anselmo, PreK-12). College of Marin is Kentfield's home community college.

Hospitals. MarinHealth Medical Center is in Kentfield — the only full-service acute-care hospital in Marin County, Level III trauma, and partnered with UCSF Health. It houses MarinHealth's Braden Diabetes Institute, Cancer Institute, Heart & Vascular Institute, Joint Replacement Center, and Birth Center. Kaiser Permanente San Rafael is 5 minutes north. UCSF Parnassus / Mission Bay campuses are 35-40 minutes south across the Golden Gate. SJC: 80-90 minutes (65 miles, via GGB + 101). Gnoss Field Airport (DVO) in Novato for private aviation is 20 minutes north.

Sir Francis Drake Boulevard through Kentfield backs up at 7-9 AM eastbound toward 101 (Greenbrae rush) and 4-6 PM westbound (return from SF) — we time Kentfield airport pickups to clear 101 before 7:15 AM or after 9:30 AM for stress-free SFO runs.
