Belmont–Redwood Shores School District serves K–8: Cipriani Elementary, Central Elementary, Fox Elementary, Nesbit Elementary, Sandpiper Elementary (Redwood Shores), Redwood Shores Elementary, and Ralston Middle School. High school students attend the Sequoia Union High School District: Carlmont High School (the Scots) is the assigned Belmont public high school — one of the strongest public high schools on the peninsula, particularly for academics and music. Major nearby private schools: Notre Dame High School Belmont (all-girls Catholic), Junipero Serra High School San Mateo (all-boys Catholic, Tom Brady's alma mater), Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough, and Mercy High School Burlingame. Higher education: Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont itself, Caada College in Redwood City, and Stanford University 15 minutes south.

Hospitals. Sequoia Hospital (Dignity Health, on Whipple Avenue in adjacent Redwood City, 5 minutes south — Level III trauma), Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame 10 minutes north (the major Sutter Health peninsula hospital), Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center 5 minutes south, and Stanford Health Care 15 minutes south for transplant, oncology, and cardiac specialty.
