About Sunnyvale. Sunnyvale (population ~155,000, incorporated 1912) is the second-largest city in Santa Clara County and one of the most important tech employment hubs in the world. Silicon Valley's literal name traces to Sunnyvale-based Fairchild Semiconductor and its offshoots in the 1960s. Today the city is home to LinkedIn's corporate headquarters, multiple massive Google campuses (Moffett Park / Bay View / Charleston), Juniper Networks headquarters, Apple campuses on the Cupertino border, Yahoo's historic Sunnyvale campus (now Apollo Global), and the headquarters of Lockheed Martin Space — the city's largest single employer since the 1950s.

Landmarks our drivers know. LinkedIn HQ (Mathilda Place), Google Moffett Park and Google Bay View campuses, Juniper Networks (N. Mathilda), Lockheed Martin Space Systems (Lockheed Way), Moffett Federal Airfield (the historic former NAS with Hangar One, now shared with Google), NASA Ames Research Center (adjacent in Mountain View but many Sunnyvale access routes), Murphy Avenue downtown (historic pedestrian shopping street, farmers market), the Computer History Museum (neighboring Mountain View), and Sunnyvale Town Center. Schools. Sunnyvale students attend schools in three different districts depending on location: Sunnyvale School District (K-8), Santa Clara Unified School District (K-12, covers parts of east Sunnyvale), and the high-ranking Fremont Union High School District. Notable high schools: Homestead High School (where Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak went — consistently top-ranked public CA high school), Fremont High School, Lynbrook High School. Private options include King's Academy, Saint Simon School, and St. Martin's School.

Hospitals. El Camino Hospital (Mountain View, 5-10 minutes) is Sunnyvale's primary hospital — one of the best-rated in Silicon Valley with strong cardiac, stroke, and women's health programs. Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara is 10 minutes east. Stanford Hospital is 20 minutes north via 280 — Level I trauma, top-10 U.S. News. We handle regular medical transport to all three, plus recurring Stanford specialty-care accounts.

Parks and nature. Baylands Park (178 acres on the San Francisco Bay waterfront, with the Bay Trail and salt-marsh boardwalks), Las Palmas Park (31 acres with a lake, tennis courts, and off-leash dog area), Ortega Park, Washington Park, Columbia Neighborhood Center, and Seven Seas Park. For hiking, Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve is 15 minutes west and Fremont Older Open Space is 15 minutes south.

Heritage District (downtown near Murphy Avenue), Ponderosa, Ortega, Birdland, Cherryhill / Cherry Chase, Las Palmas, East Sunnyvale (Moffett Park area), West Sunnyvale (Homestead border), Sunnyvale Hills (south end), Washington / Morse neighborhoods, Ranch 99 / Lawrence corridor, and the entire Moffett Park / Bay View corridor north of 101.

Airport drive times from Sunnyvale. SFO: 30-40 minutes (32 miles, via 101 or 280 north). SJC: 10-15 minutes (8 miles, via 101 south — one of our shortest airport runs). OAK: 40-55 minutes (38 miles, via Dumbarton or San Mateo Bridge). Moffett Federal Airfield is literally in Sunnyvale for authorized personnel.

Local dispatcher tip. Sunnyvale's road network is famously congested at tech rush hours — Mathilda Avenue northbound 4-7 PM (LinkedIn exodus), Fair Oaks at 237, Lawrence Expressway, and the Wolfe Road / Central corridor near the Apple border all back up for miles. For early-morning SFO runs we pre-position at 5 AM rather than fighting 7-8 AM commuter traffic on 101. Sunnyvale is one of our best SJC runs — only 10-15 minutes on 101, rarely backed up at that hour.
