Emory enrolls roughly 15,000 students (7,500 undergraduate, 7,500 graduate and professional). In addition to the University, the surrounding area is served by DeKalb County Schools for K-12. The private school cluster near Emory includes the Paideia School (one of the top K-12 progressive schools in the Southeast), the Galloway School, and St. Pius X Catholic in Chamblee.

Emory Healthcare is the largest health system in Georgia, anchored by Emory University Hospital (main campus), Emory University Hospital Midtown, the Winship Cancer Institute (NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center), the Emory Clinic, Wesley Woods, and partnerships with CHOA. Dispatcher tip: the Downtown Connector (I-75/I-85 where they share a freeway through midtown) backs up severely from 7–9 AM and 4–6:30 PM. For morning ATL flights from Emory we often route via Moreland Avenue to I-20 west to I-75/85 south, which avoids the worst of the Connector.
