Hospitals. Piedmont Atlanta Hospital (1968 Peachtree Road, 488 beds) is Buckhead's flagship medical center — the largest of the Piedmont Healthcare system, with Level II trauma designation, a nationally-ranked cardiac program, and transplant services. Northside Hospital Atlanta is 10 minutes north. Emory University Hospital (the academic medical center) is 15 minutes east in Druid Hills. Local dispatcher tip. Atlanta's infamous I-85 and I-75 "Connector" traffic south of Buckhead is the defining factor on every ATL airport run — southbound afternoon rush (4-7 PM) and morning peak (6:30-9 AM) can double your drive time. For early ATL flights we recommend leaving Buckhead 90 minutes before check-in cutoff. GA 400 southbound (the Buckhead-to-I-85 connector) is the weekday commuter bottleneck. Lenox Road and Peachtree Road at Phipps/Lenox pack solid during holiday shopping season (Black Friday through New Year's). Atlanta Braves home games at Truist Park are 15 minutes northwest of Buckhead (not downtown); Falcons and Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium are 15 minutes south — game-day traffic affects I-75/85.
